Overview
I find that most companies have an established culture that is defined by the type of people they employ. Although it would be difficult to define one's work ethic or personal values in words, I can at least detail out my personal interests on this website. This may give someone insight into who I am, and whether they believe I fit the type of culture they want in their company. I will start out by stating the obvious; I am first and foremost a geek, and all of my interests tend to revolve around that fact.
Collecting
It is difficult to define what it is when someone buys things for the sole purpose of admiring them, but I think I'll refer to it as collecting. Ever since I was young, I have always been collecting things. This has spanned from Hot Wheels to comics books to vinyl records, and so on and so forth. For the most part, my collecting is now limited to action figures.
Video Games
Now before you start pegging me as some video game nerd that just sits in a gaming chair all day while playing Call of Duty, please hear me out for a second. I enjoy playing video games mainly for the same reason that I enjoy cars, because I am intrigued by how they manage to blend art and engineering together so well. My interest in video games has less to do with how many kills I can get than it does how visually appealing the game looks. And I'm not just talking about the quality of the graphics; I really enjoy games that incorporate beautiful art styles. While I do enjoy games that are fun to play, its actually more important to me that a game looks visually appealing than it is that the game is enjoyable to play, as strange as that may sound. Some of my favorite game series are Street Fighter, Soulcalibur, Streets of Rage, Final Fantasy, and NieR, just to name a few.
Music
Just like pretty much everyone else, I enjoy listening to music. I also enjoy playing it, but I'm not actually that good at it, so I won't cover that here. I know its cliché to say this, but I do like pretty much all genres of music including classical, rap, and classic rock. I would have to say my favorite genre is probably classic rock though. In general, I also have to say that I enjoy music from the 60's and 70's more than modern music, but I still enjoy new music. My favorite musical groups include The Eagles, Weezer, Magic Sword, Yuck, Gunship, BTS, Twice, and Gorillaz.
Cars
When I was younger, I never really had much of an interest in cars. There were certainly cars that I felt looked appealing, like the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette with the split rear view windows, but I never understood the appeal of actually driving one. Well, that is, until I actually drove a sports car myself. I honestly enjoy cars because they are a perfect blend of art and engineering, and on top of that, they can be an absolute hoot to drive. I find that it is not only fun to drive cars, but it's also fun to learn about the engineering behind them as well. My current favorite cars are the Ford GT, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, and the Ford Mustang V6 (I may be biased, but I love it when a car is affordable, fun to drive, and good looking). Although I do enjoy cars, I'll acknowledge that our overdependence on cars has become detrimental to society because it limits social interactions and it limits our ability to walk outside which negatively affects both our physcial and mental health.
